Company History

In 1963 Peter Lean commenced practice as a Consulting Surveyor in Liverpool. One year later Peter and Ian Lackenby established a partnership called Peter Lean & Lackenby and moved to Bigge Street, Liverpool.

Philip Hayward became a partner in 1970, expanding the practice and changing the company name to Lean, Lackenby & Hayward. A second practice was established at Campbelltown. The partnership was incorporated in 1981 and amalgamated with the Consulting Engineering practice of Robin Griffith.

1984 saw the acquisition by Lean, Lackenby & Hayward, of the survey practice of Terry Bartlett in Bowral. Ronald Rengger and Stephen Abbott were appointed Directors, and Ronald moved to manage the Bowral office.

The Campbelltown and Bowral offices separated from the Liverpool office in 1987.  Ian and Stephen continued at Liverpool. Peter, Philip, Robin and Ronald appointed Patrick McNamara and Daniel Boubli as directors of the new Campbelltown practice; Lean Lackenby & Hayward Campbelltown Pty Ltd.

In 1992 Richard Meaker joined the practice adding considerable depth to the company’s Town Planning experience.

In 1994 the Bowral office was sold and Lean Lackenby & Hayward Campbelltown separated into; Lean & Hayward operating from Campbelltown and Boubli, Lepagier & Hastings at Castle Hill. Peter Lean and Robin Griffiths retired, however they provide specialist consultancy services to the practice.

In 2000 the practice of W.D. Kimber was acquired, providing a base at Lane Cove in Sydney, and expertise in high rise building and strata work.

In 2004 the Directors of Lean & Hayward welcomed as shareholders; Larry Ward, Gary Warren, Mony Seng, Graeme Fleming, Nathan Whishaw and Michael Pletkan.

In 2005 Richard Meaker retired. 

In 2006 Lean & Hayward welcomed David Bobyreff as a shareholder.
